Anglican chief backs Pope on Islam remarks
Sep. 18, 2006 at 10:43AM

The head of the Church of England Monday defended the pope over his comments on Islam and violence, saying they had been taken out of context by protesters. Archbishop of Canterbury Dr. Rowan Williams, who also leads the worldwide Anglican Communion, suggested the Pope had quoted a Medieval description of Islam to demonstrate how religions painted distorted pictures of each other's history and beliefs. Pope Benedict sparked protests across the Muslim world when, during a lecture in Germany last week, he referred to a medieval text reporting debates between a Byzantine emperor and an educated Persian. He recalled that the emperor had told his opponent: "Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." Sunday, the pope expressed regret that the quotation, which he insisted was not a reflection of his personal views, had caused offense to some Muslims. Speaking on BBC Radio, Williams said the row demonstrated how religious teachings could be misrepresented to encourage conflict. "There are elements in Islam that can be used to justify violence, just as there are in Christianity and Judaism," he said. "These religious faiths, because they are held by human beings who are very fallible, can be distorted in these ways and we all need to recognise that." He continued: "The big question that comes out of this for me is how much are we prepared to listen to the other person telling their story and how much are both sides prepared to be self-critical in discussing aspects of their history that are not pretty and not edifying."

NBC PLANS MADONNA CRUCIFIXION IN TV concert
on Sep 18 2006 18:38:19

ETNBC has given the green light to include Madonna-on-the-Cross footage in an upcoming November Sweeps concert special! In the show, Madonna, wearing a gittered crown of thorns, descends on a suspended mirrored, disco ball-type cross singing her hit 'Live To Tell.' NBC suit Kevin Reilly said Madonna considered the crucifixion a highlight of her show." ( Satan would agree ) We viewed it and didn't see it as being inappropriate," NBC explained. Developing... ( these liars wouldn't even be airing the concert if it wasn't for the controversial mock crucifixion! )

Madonna exploits Christianity for the "almighty dollar and fame". She should be thankful Christians are a peaceful people. Could you imagine if this fraud tried exploiting Islam for the same purpose. How long do you think it would take before she would be referred to in the past tense?

Do you think NBC, in fairness would allow another act to perform their concert having a highlight of a performer desocrating any other sacred icon whether it be Hindu, Buddist, Islamic or Jewish. What cowards! Don't hold your breath.

Stacy Dow with daughter Jayde,
who survived attempted murder (abortion).

Dammit, You were suppossed to kill my baby,
you failed me and now you're going to pay!

A young mother who lost a groundbreaking battle for £250,000 compensation after giving birth to an "aborted" twin daughter yesterday vowed to appeal against the decision.
Stacy Dow launched the action - the first of its kind in Britain - earlier this year, convinced she had not been given proper warning by NHS medics that termination operations do not always guarantee success.
But following a court's decision to reject the action, Miss Dow, 21, of Perth, said she was determined to fight on.
"I found out on Friday that my claim had been rejected," she told The Scotsman. "It was a letter written in legal terms and I did not know what to think. It was difficult to understand.
"I'm still determined to continue. I'll talk to my lawyer and see what he thinks is best."
The single mother decided to take the case to court, hoping to force the hospital to pay for the upbringing of her child.
Five years ago, at the age of 16, Miss Dow discovered she was pregnant. After much soul-searching and fearing she could not cope with premature motherhood, she went to Perth Royal Infirmary for an abortion.
But seven weeks from term, she was told that one of the foetuses had survived the abortion and in August 2001 she gave birth to a baby daughter, Jayde.
Cash-strapped and unemployed, Miss Dow hoped the £250,000 compensation would help her to raise the child, now aged five. But last week at Perth Sheriff Court, Sheriff Michael Fletcher rejected the bid against Tayside University Hospitals NHS Trust, saying patients could not expect a legally binding contract with their doctor.
"All this over the past months has been a stress, and sometimes I don't know if I can go on," Miss Dow said.
"People tell me this is the way big organisations like the health trust operate, to wear you down - and I know that's what's happening to me.
"I'm still living at my mum and dad's, waiting to start a proper life on my own with Jayde.
"Jayde started school two weeks ago and is enjoying it. I still want to do the best for her, but it's exhausting dealing with the legal side."
Shortly after reaching a decision on Friday, Sheriff Fletcher said that simply because a doctor had used the word "termination" during a conversation with Miss Dow, it did not guarantee success. "I am of the view that a proof in this case is not necessary to decide the question of whether the conversation amounted to a guarantee of success of the operation," he said.
"In order to be held to have guaranteed success of the operation, the doctor would have had to have expressly said he was doing so.
"He could not be held to have done so impliedly, or because he had used the word termination," the sheriff said in findings issued at Perth.
"He would have had to have had the intention to give a warranty of success, and it would not matter a great deal what she subjectively thought the use of the word 'termination' implied." Sheriff Fletcher said that except in unusual circumstances, the relationship between a patient and his NHS doctor was not a contractual one.
He added that the situation would have been different if Miss Dow had been a private patient, as the doctor/patient relationship then became a contractual one.
NHS trust advocate David Stephenson added: "NHS patients don't contract with health trusts or health boards for medical treatment. There's no contractual relationship between the NHS patient and the NHS service provider."

FOX News Channel Caught Donating $10,000 to Gay Journalist Organization

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HOMOSEXUALITY

"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination ..." Leviticus 20:13

I. Although homosexuality has in these last days become more and more acceptable to society, it is nonetheless evil and wicked in the sight of God.

II. When God created man and woman He intended that there remain a respect within His people for the distinction He had made between the two sexes.
Deuteronomy 22:5

A. Homosexuality became widely practiced in Old Testament times.
Genesis 19:5-11 Judges 19:22 (The Hebrew word here translated "know" literally means "to have intercourse or relations with." It is the same word used in Genesis 4:1, in which it is recorded that "Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain ..." It is also used in the same sense in Genesis 24:16; 1 Samuel 1:19b; and Luke 1:34.)

B. It was still common during the time of the first century church.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11

C. Scripture even indicates that, in the end times, the homosexual way of life will become openly practiced and generally accepted by society as a whole.
2 Timothy 3:1-5

III.
How serious an offense is it?
A. Under the Law, the act was considered "worthy of death."
Leviticus 20:13 Romans 1:27, 32

B. Scripture clearly says those guilty of this transgression are unfit to inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 1 Timothy 1:10

IV.
It is an abomination to God.

A. The sin is self-defiling.
Leviticus 18:22, 24

B. It is unnatural (Romans 1:27, 31; 2 Timothy 3:3), and to accept or encourage this way of life is "contrary to sound doctrine" (1 Timothy 1:10).

C. God abhors it!
Leviticus 20:13, 23

D. Believers are expected to "put aside" such evil practices of their former way of life.
1 Corinthians 6:9, 11 ("... and such were (p.t.) some of you ...")

E. Because they refused to abandon their wicked ways "God gave them up." (They became reprobate.) Romans 1:24, 26-32 Ephesians 4:17-19

V. It is possible to be set free from the bondage of this offense. The sin is not unforgivable.
1 Corinthians 6:11, 9-10

Will they also Fund Pro-Family Journalists?

By John-Henry Westen
MIAMI, September 8, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) - While the left likes to pretend that Fox News Channel is a right-wing conservative news organization, Fox has always claimed it is "fair and balanced", trying to portray the image of center of the road. However, their "fair and balanced" claim will be under close scrutiny by conservatives this week as a pro-family group has asked Fox News to match a $10,000 donation to a homosexual journalism organization, with a donation to pro-family group.
Fox News is listed as a "Feature Level" sponsor of the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) annual convention which began yesterday and runs through the weekend in Miami. See the NGLA sponsorship page featuring Fox News as a sponsor:
http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2006/sep/
The controversy is of heightened intensity since the leader of the NLGJA recently compared pro-family critics of homosexuality to "white supremacists."
Americans for Truth (AFT) is asking Fox News Channel to be "fair and balanced" by giving $10,000 to a conservative group to match its donation to NLGJA. In a letter sent today to Fox News Channel President Roger Ailes, AFT President Peter LaBarbera wrote: "FOX News cannot claim to be 'fair and balanced' in its coverage of homosexuality while providing large grants to a special interest group like the [NLGJA] that demonizes religious conservatives and, worse, seeks to influence the media nationwide to exclude conservative critics of the homosexual political/cultural agenda from gay-related stories."
NLGJA National President Eric Hegedus has suggested that covering "both sides" of homosexuality-related issues is like quoting the KKK on stories about race. On NLGJA's Hegedus wrote: "How appropriate is it to quote interviewees whose ideas could be considered homophobic? … Certainly, news organizations have written extensively about white supremacists and other hate groups… But I doubt that any journalist is adding them to a source contact list for bringing 'balance' to future stories about reparations, interracial marriage, the Holocaust or immigration. That same ethic needs to extend to LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender] coverage, too." (see the full message from Hegedus:
http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2006/sep/ )
LaBarbera suggests in his letter that Fox News Channel give a "balancing grant" to a pro-family organization since it would "signal that Fox News Channel is committed to living up to its credo and not taking sides in the Culture War." LaBarbera adds, "It would also … show respect for the tens of millions of Americans who do not deserve to be likened to the KKK simply for adhering to historic Judeo-Christian beliefs."
In related news, Wal-Mart Corporation is also listed among the $10,000 sponsors of the NLGJA convention.

Possessed: Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin

Adolf Hitler and Russian leader Stalin were possessed by the Devil, the Vatican's chief exorcist has claimed.
Father Gabriele Amorth who is Pope Benedict XVI's 'caster out of demons' made his comments during an interview with Vatican Radio.
Father Amorth said: "Of course the Devil exists and he can not only possess a single person but also groups and entire populations.
"I am convinced that the Nazis were all possessed. All you have to do is think about what Hitler - and Stalin did. Almost certainly they were possessed by the Devil.
"You can tell by their behaviour and their actions, from the horrors they committed and the atrocities that were committed on their orders. That's why we need to defend society from demons."
According to secret Vatican documents recently released wartime pontiff Pope Pius XII attempted a "long distance" exorcism of Hitler which failed to have any effect.
Father Amorth said: "It's very rare that praying and attempting to carry out an exorcism from distance works.
"Of course you can pray for someone from a distance but in this case it would not have any effect.
"One of the key requirements for an exorcism is to be present in front of the possessed person and that person also has to be consenting and willing.
"Therefore trying to carry out an exorcism on someone who is not present, or consenting and willing would prove very difficult.
"However I have no doubt that Hitler was possessed and so it does not surprise me that Pope Pius XII tried a long distance exorcism."
In the past Father Amorth has also spoken out against the Harry Potter books, claiming that reading the novels of the teen wizard open children's minds to dabbling with the occult and black magic.
Father Amorth, who is president of the International Association of Exorcists, said of the JK Rowling books:"Behind Harry Potter hides the signature of the king of the darkness, the devil."
He said that Rowling's books contain innumerable positive references to magic, "the satanic art" and added the books attempt to make a false distinction between black and white magic, when in fact, the distinction "does not exist, because magic is always a turn to the devil."
Father Amorth is said to have carried out more than 30,000 exorcisms in his career and his favourite film is, according to Italian newspapers The Exorcist.

Uganda Won't Tolerate the "Buggers"
.....We Should Follow Their Example!!!

published Friday, September 8, 2006

A Ugandan newspaper's decision to publish the names of men whom the paper says are gay has activists fearing a government crackdown in the country, where sodomy is punishable by life in prison, Reuters reported Thursday. ( That's Great News! )
"For years, President Yoweri Museveni's government routinely threatens and vilifies lesbians and gays and subjects sexual rights activists to harassment," Human Rights Watch researcher Jessica Stern said in a written statement. ( And I'm Glad They Do, Its Heroic! )
"At a moment when sensational publicity has spread fear among a whole community, the authorities must exercise their responsibility to protect, not persecute." ( Yeah, Protect The Innocent From The Influence Of The Buggers / Protect Their Society From The Filth Mongers! )
The list was published Aug. 8 in the tabloid newspaper Red Pepper, and the paper has since told activists that it plans to publish a similar list of alleged lesbians, Reuters reported.
Similar allegations by the newspaper have led to arrests and detentions, Human Rights Watch said. ( Taliban Shane Would Publish The List If He Could Get A Hold Of It! )
In July 2005, the group said, authorities raided the home of Victor Mukasa, chairperson of Sexual Minorities Uganda. They arrested another activist and held her overnight. ( Should Have Kept Her Longer Than That! )
Two months later, Museveni signed a ban on same - sex marriage.

Beatles honor Satan, lay the foundation for death metal bands to come.

The Beatles honor Aleister Crowley ( Popular Satanist ) by including his face on their Sgt. Pepper's album. Crowley is on the top row, 2nd from the left.

In 1965, Paul McCartney and the other Beatles were honored by Queen Elizabeth with an MBE (Member of British Empire) medal. Afterward, laughing, they boasted that they had smoked marijuana in the Buckingham Palace bathroom before the ceremony. An act of frontal offense to the honor they would so shortly receive. The British people responded with shock and protest. Some former recipients of the honor even returned their medals to the Queen, saying they did not want to be in the same company with these shameful rock stars, icons of rebellion and drugs. The Beatles had already released their album glorifying psychedelic drugs, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” dedicated to known Satanist Aleister Crowley. One month after the album’s release, they once again shocked the world by announcing publicly that they were taking L.S.D.

Madonna tour protested in Russia
Sep. 4, 2006 at 6:11PM

Hundreds of Orthodox Christians protested Madonna's upcoming Moscow concert and urged its cancelation because of a mock-crucifixion she performs on stage. The Michigan-born British resident has outraged religious groups across Europe by singing "Live to Tell" while hanging from a mirrored cross with a crown of thorns on her head. Her "Confessions on a Dance Floor" tour rolls into Moscow's Luzhniki stadium Sept. 12. Russian Orthodox and Muslim leaders have urged their followers to boycott the show but an estimated 40,000 of the 70,000 available tickets have already been sold. The protesters in central Moscow carried signs saying "God Save Russia" and "With Belief in God, Freedom or Death!," RIA Novosti reported. Christian Revival Union leader Vladimir Osipov called the performer an "American Satanist" and the "anti-Madonna," because her image was the complete opposite of the Virgin Mary's. "I would like to see her abusing the religion of international bankers -- she would have immediately been cornered and sent back to the streets," he said.

Murdered sect leader 'was secret Catholic'
By John Lichfield in Paris
Published: 07 September 2006
A year after being murdered in his own church, the secret of Brother Roger, apostle of Christian unity, has been made public: the Swiss Protestant monk, who founded an ecumenical community at Taizé in eastern France, was an undeclared Catholic for 33 years.
Just over a year ago, Brother Roger, aged 90, was stabbed to death in public by a deranged Romanian pilgrim in the community he founded to promote unity in the Christian Church. The following week he was given a funeral service according to Catholic rites, fulfilling a wish he expressed before he died. Many Protestant supporters were taken aback - even annoyed.
Now a former Catholic bishop of Autun, whose diocese includes the village of Taizé, has said Brother Roger made a Catholic "profession of faith" in 1972. "Brother Roger himself told me he was a Catholic," Monseigneur Raymond Séguy said. His Catholic allegiance was never made public as Brother Roger did not want to destroy his ecumenical achievements at Taizé.
Mgr Séguy's revelation - first to a historian and then to the French press - has caused a storm. Brother Alois, the new head of Taizé, said it was "incorrect"to suggest the world's most successful apostle of Christian unity had "converted".
"In the bishop's palace at Autun in 1972, he took communion in the Catholic eucharist for the first time without anyone asking him to convert," Brother Alois said. "Brother Roger was looking for a way of communion with the Catholic Church, not a 'conversion', which would imply rejection of his origins."
The Taizé community was founded by Roger Schutz in 1940 to try to heal the 400-year-old rift between the Catholic and Protestant churches. His father was a Protestant pastor, but his grandmother, whom he loved dearly, was Catholic. She survived bombardment near the front line during the First World War and asked her grandson to do all he could to heal the divisions of war. Taizé's message - and its music, based on plainchant - became a beacon for post-war young Christians.
However, some Protestant leaders, while backing Taizé's work, became disturbed by what they saw as Brother Roger's drift towards Catholicism. At the funeral of Pope John Paul II last year, Brother Roger was seen to take communion from the hands of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. The future Pope Benedict XVI had always opposed proposals that, in the name of Christian unity, Protestants should be allowed to participate in the Catholic mass.
The mystery of how the "Protestant" Brother Roger came to receive the host from Cardinal Ratzinger's own hand has now been solved.

Drug use up for boomers, down for teens

By KEVIN FREKINGASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER

WASHINGTON
-- Some moms and dads might want to take a lesson from their kids: Just say no.
The government reported Thursday that 4.4 percent of baby boomers ages 50 to 59 indicated that they had used illicit drugs in the past month. It marks the third consecutive yearly increase recorded for that age group by the National Survey on Drug Use and Health.
Meanwhile, illicit drug use among young teens went down for the third consecutive year - from 11.6 percent in 2002 to 9.9 percent in 2005.
"Rarely have we seen a story like this where this is such an obvious contrast as one generation goes off stage right, and entering stage left is a generation that learned a lesson somehow and they're doing something very different," said David Murray, special assistant to the director for the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
The annual survey on drug use and health involves interviews of about 67,500 people. It provides an important snapshot of how many Americans drink, smoke and use drugs such as marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamine.
Overall, drug use remained relatively unchanged among Americans age 12 and older in 2005. About 19.7 million Americans reported they had used an illicit drug in the past month, which represented a rise from 7.9 percent to 8.1 percent. The increase was not only due to the boomers, but an increase was also seen among those 18-25, the age category that always ranks highest when it comes to illicit drug use.

var bnum=new Number(Math.floor(99999999 * Math.random())+1);
document.write('');
Among the 18-25 group, drug use rose from 19.4 percent to 20.1 percent. Federal officials commenting on the report emphasized the drop in use among younger teens without citing the increase in the next older age group.
"This is a culture change and welcome news for our nation's well-being," said John Walters, director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
But groups seeking the legalization of marijuana said the results show that the United States is spending billions and incarcerating millions, yet drugs remain cheap, potent and widely available.
"The government's current approach to drugs, with its drug free rhetoric and over-reliance on punitive, criminal justice policies costs billions more each year yet delivers less and less," said Bill Piper, director of national affairs for the Drug Policy Alliance.
Murray said the peak of drug use among youth in the United States occurred in the late 1970s.
"And they brought it with them like baggage when they hit 50 and 60," Murray said.
Drug use by baby boomers increased from 2.7 percent in 2002 to 4.4 percent last year. Marijuana was by far their drug of choice, Murray said.
That's true overall. There were 14.6 million people who reported using marijuana in the past month, about 2.4 million cocaine users and 6.4 million people who used prescription drugs for nonmedical purposes, such as pain relievers, tranquilizers or sedatives. In 60 percent of those cases, the drugs came from a relative or friend for free. Only 4.3 percent reported buying the drug from a drug dealer or other stranger.
While drug use went up slightly in '05, so did alcohol use. Slightly more than half of Americans age 12 and older reported being current drinkers of alcohol. That translates to 126 million people, up from 121 million people the year before.
Officials noted that alcohol use among those 12-17 did decline from 17.6 percent to 16.5 percent.
The percentage of Americans who acknowledged driving drunk at least once in the past year also dropped slightly in 2005 - from 13.5 percent to 13 percent.
Meanwhile, tobacco use held steady at about 29.4 percent, even though among youths 12-17, tobacco use did drop from 14.4 percent to 13.1 percent.

Walmart Comes Out Of The Closet!

Wal-Mart, the largest retailer in the world, has asked for and received permission to join the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. The NGLCC is a leading promoter of homosexual marriage. Read "Wal-Mart Partners With Gay and Lesbian Group" http://www.afa.net/walmartadage.htm Although Wal-Mart has never excluded homosexuals from being employees, customers, or suppliers, the company wanted to be more closely identified with promoting the homosexual agenda. Wal-Mart is now a "corporate member" of the NGLCC, putting their approval on the NGLCC's efforts to abolish the definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman. A Wal-Mart vice president will serve as an advisor to the NGLCC, helping them promote homosexual marriage.Wal-Mart agreed to give $25,000 to the NGLCC and to pay for two conferences scheduled by NGLCC. Also, Wal-Mart will give homosexual-owned businesses special treatment when making purchases. Companies not owned by homosexuals will be moved down the list. NGLCC called Wal-Mart's action "part of the company's ongoing commitment to advancing diversity (homosexuality) among all of its associate, supplier and customer bases."*Wal-Mart is offering the same kind of support for homosexual marriage which Ford Motor Company has been giving to homosexual groups for years.

Vatican informers spied on John Paul II,
Polish cardinal says

Sep. 05 (CWNews.com) - The Soviet Union recruited informers at the Vatican to spy on Pope John Paul II (bio - news), Cardinal Joseph Glemp of Warsaw told the Italian ANSA news agency. "There were spies inside the Vatican," the Polish primate told ANSA. "Moscow was extremely interested in what was going on in Rome, now that a Polish Pope was in office."
Cardinal Glemp said that "every priest in Poland" was carefully monitored by government authorities during the Communist era. "Nobody escaped the surveillance," he said. "There was a dossier for each one of us in the offices of the intelligence agencies."
In recent years, the opening of archives amassed by the Communist government has confirmed that spies collected volumes of information about Church officials. Some Catholic priests were recruited to provide information about their colleagues; others were unwitting collaborators, providing information to acquaintances without realizing that they were government agents. The Institute for National Remembrance, established to make an accounting for the Communist era, estimates that about 10% of all Polish priests were used-- with or without their knowledge-- as sources.
"The documentation from the secret police on Polish priests was enormous," Cardinal Glemp said. "Thousands and thousands of documents. If you put all the dossiers in a row it would stretch for miles."
Last year the Institute for National Remembrance charged that Father Konrad Hejmo, a Polish Dominican priest stationed in Rome, had been on the payroll of the Polish secret policy, providing information about the Pontiff. Father Hejmo-- who did not work at the Vatican, and did not have access to secret information-- denied that he knowingly cooperated with Communist authorities. But he did say that Pope John Paul was keenly aware of the likelihood that he was being watched. During a meeting with Polish priests in Rome, Father Hejmo recalled, the Pope made it clear "he knew he was being spied on."
At the time the accusations against Father Hejmo were first aired, Polish Cardinal Andrezej Maria Deskur, a close friend of the late Pontiff, said that the accusations were "absurd, inexplicable." But Cardinal Glemp gave ANSA a different perspective. "Certainly he was a spy," he said, referring to Father Hejmo. After having inspected the documents made public last year, he said, "personally I am convinced."
Cardinal Glemp spoke to ANSA from Assisi, Italy, where he was speaking at the 20th Inter-religious Meeting of Prayer for Peace, organized by the St. Egidio community.

New "Star Wars" Charecter or
Modesty gowns for female patients

The gowns have been designed to comply with religious rulesA gown designed for female Muslim patients who wish to preserve their modesty for religious reasons is being introduced to hospitals in Lancashire.
The £12 outfits - made in Yorkshire - cover the entire head, neck and body, leaving just a slot for the eyes.
The burqua-style gowns come with trousers, two styles of head-dress and elasticated cuffs to prevent women's arms from being revealed.
They will be available to patients at in Chorley and Preston from November.
The gowns were trialled at Royal Preston Hospital and proved so successful that a number of other NHS Trusts have also expressed an interest in offering them.
Preserving modesty
Karen Jacob, linen services manager at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, came up with the idea.
She said: "I noticed a gap in the market and thought that it would be great if there was a gown that helped to preserve a patient's modesty."
The gowns are believed to be a world first - and TrusTECH, the NHS organisation which manages innovation for the North West NHS - has the patent.
It means the market for the gowns among the globe's billion-plus Muslims is immense.
Tim Meadows, customer service manager for Interweave, the West Yorkshire-based firm which makes the garments, believes the demand for the gowns could be huge.
"We think there is a large market out there," he says.
"We hope it will be a success. We have invested a lot of time and money."

A police force was caught up in a freedom of speech row after its officers arrested an anti-gay campaigner for handing out leaflets at a homosexual rally.
South Wales police admitted evangelical Christian Stephen Green was then charged purely because his pamphlets contained anti-gay quotations from the Bible.
Mr Green faces a court appearance today charged with using 'threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior' after his attempt to distribute the leaflets at the weekend 'Mardi Gras' event in Cardiff.
A spokesman for the police said the campaigner had not behaved in a violent or aggressive manner, but that officers arrested him because 'the leaflet contained Biblical quotes about homosexuality'.
The arrest of Mr Green by the South Wales Minorities Support Unit provoked a furious row. Church of England evangelicals said it represented 'an onslaught on freedom of speech and freedom of religious expression' and Tory MPs called it 'disturbing'.
The decision to prosecute Mr Green is the latest in a series of police initiatives aimed against those who have expressed public disapproval of homosexual behavior.
In recent months incidents have included a Metropolitan Police warning to author Lynette Burrows that she was responsible for a 'homophobic incident' after she suggesting on a BBC Radio Five Live programme that gays did not make ideal adoptive parents.
Another warning about future behaviour was delivered by Lancashire police who visited the home of a Christian couple after they complained about their local council's gay rights policies.
The Met Police in London also investigated former Muslim Council of Britain leader Sir Iqbal Sacranie after he gave an interview saying homosexuality was harmful. However, no prosecution followed in that case.
The action against Mr Green came after he and a fellow member of his evangelical group, Christian Voice, tried to distribute leaflets at the gay Mardi Gras event in Cardiff.
Several thousand people attended the event, which included a gay rugby tournament and a 'top gayer motor show', and which was addressed on the importance of tolerance by Liberal Democrat council chief Rodney Berman.
The anti-gay campaigners were first asked by police to leave the site of the show following 'complaints from the public', and complied with the request. However, they were approached again by police when they began handing out leaflets at the entrance to the park where the Mardi Gras was staged.
Mr Green refused to stop distributing leaflets and was arrested, and then questioned for four hours at a police station. He was charged after refusing a caution.
The leaflets were headed Same-Sex Love - Same-Sex Sex: What does the Bible Say?, and included a series of quotations from the 1611 King James Bible, a text usually regarded as one of the foundation stones of the English language.
Aimed at demonstrating Biblical disapproval of homosexual sex, they included from the Old Testament Leviticus 18.22, 'Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is abomination'.
The leaflets also quoted Romans 1:25-27 from the New Testament, to the effect that homosexuals are given to 'vile affections'.
The handbills urged homosexuals to 'turn from your sins and you will be saved'.
